The coming decades promises growth and maturity of the IT and start up ecosystems in Bengaluru City and extended cities in Karnataka, It endeavors to raise its current Global ranking from being among the Top 30 Global Startup Ecosystems in the World.

  • Achieve USD 150 bn in IT exports
  • Support Domestic and International Outreach & Partnership Development

KDEM leadership team will guide growth and investments in its five Verticals through support and mentoring received from The Advocacy Council. A strong directional partnership will enable the management to create and execute the vision and strategy plans with a well-defined implementation roadmaps.

KDEM will also facilitate execution of short-term and long-term projects. The focus is to achieve annual goals, increase investment flow and align existing activities within the overall KDEM Goals.

Vertical: Beyond Bengaluru

Aims to strengthen the digital economy by focusing and enhancing contributions from other regions like Mysore, Mangalore and Hubli cluster. Information Technology sector in Bengaluru contributes 98% of the 25% GSDP.  This vertical will focus on improving connectivity to remote parts and endeavour to reduce the rural-urban divide, by establishing the required infrastructure by extending to other cities like Hubli, Mysore and Mangalore. This initiative aims to achieve a 10% of the GSDP in the coming 5 years.

Position Summary

Incumbent will support and implement the strategy for all “Beyond Bangalore” efforts regarding Policy advocacy, Budgets, Government relations, Market development, Communication, and Outreach activities, for Mangaluru cluster.

Focus efforts to resolve operational challenges between Government frameworks and ensure Enterprise innovations are achieved successfully.

Role Responsibilities

  • Evangelize & position Mangaluru (“Beyond Bangalore” city) as emerging destination for key IT/ITES, CoE, ESDM, and the thrust areas
  • Work with the Head – Beyond Bangalore and Mangaluru cluster specific advisory committee members to identify/create plug and play facilities for attracting businesses to relocate or co-locate to drive the enterprise development and innovation at affordable costs
  • Partner with existing “Beyond Bangalore” clusters leads and committee members to attract corporates (International Companies, Indian Multinational, Startups/MSMEs) to avail state-of-the-art research & CoE facilities to create a significant growth pipeline for the cluster
  • Be the “Go To” person for Mangaluru cluster to clearly articulate the government specific incentives that are available for innovation, growth, and development for the respective clusters
  • Engage business leaders and entrepreneurs to develop and drive a distributed delivery model for the “SUPPLY” side of the “Beyond Bangalore” initiative through technology enablement
  • Create partnerships between educational institutions, research organizations, and cluster specific CoEs/Thrust areas/corporates to proactively identify, train, and skill manpower.
  • Connect and coordinate with various key stakeholders towards executing strategies/initiatives and implementing plans designed for the development of the Mangaluru cluster.
  • Build and sustain visibility for Mangaluru cluster through a robust media engagement, which includes print, electronic media, and social media.
  • Work towards the amplification of key announcements – around investments, developments in activities conducted.
  • Work with Mangaluru cluster entrepreneurs towards creating impact stories – employment generation, growth to economy beyond Bengaluru, boost of start-up ecosystem, innovation by GCCs, IT companies etc.
  • Support KDEM with media engagement at key events, forums and platforms conducted at Mangaluru.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education & Experience Essential: Graduate

Preferably a Post-Graduate with premier institute.

Experience 12+ years of experience managing technology initiatives, programs, well networked, and having played a role in a corporate or a successful entrepreneur
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Experience in handling Government Relations, stakeholder management of corporates & senior management and investors.
  • Understanding of the Cluster policies, promotional activities to avail benefits and incentives from the Government.
  • Ability to create content on digital media handles and track key metrics
  • Mapping of talent ability in clusters and ability to prepare a plan for developing future skills of the industry in partnership with academic institutions, training institutions, skill development center’s and industry.
  • Excellent communication and interaction skills; ability to build and grow relationships
  • Resourceful and ability to operate in a fast-changing environment
  • Comfortable with multi-tasking and handling a variety of responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated high standard of ethics and integrity
  • High energy individual with the right “can deliver” attitude
  • Ability to work and deliver under minimum supervision
  • Pro-active individual and ability to take clear decisions backed by data
  • Strong inter-personal skills, background of Technology Industry a big plus
  • Ability to clearly articulate, report & create dashboards for the “Beyond Bengaluru” progress reporting
