Position Summary

This position will be responsible for providing leadership to the various constituents of the Electronics/Semiconductor Industry initiatives to help realise the vision for the industry from Karnataka, emerging as the torch bearer for the ESDM industry in Karnataka. It requires the incumbent to lead with zeal, passion & eye for detail.

Role Responsibilities

  • Work with the government, industry, academia, and KDEM team to execute the identified actions and provide leadership for the growth of the ESDM/semiconductor industry
  • Network and attract ESDM/ Semiconductor industries more in Karnataka.
  • Work towards Karnataka achieving a 60 billion USD ESDM contribution to the state’s overall digital economy by 2031-32.
  • Boost startups in ESDM and work with Govt funded or privately run incubation centres and accelerators.
  • Prepare analytical papers or reports on various subtopics of ESDM and publish them.
  • Position Beyond Bengaluru Emerging Technology Cluster for setting up operations of ESDM companies.
  • Work with the government of Karnataka to make two Electronics Manufacturing clusters operational successfully.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders like Government, academia, industry members, External consultants, and other industry associations to establish COEs in the identified areas.
  • To evangelise and drive the talent development initiatives for the sector.
  • To identify future opportunities and create a strategic roadmap from an overall ESDM/Semiconductor industry perspective.
  • Industry Council Member Coordination and Agenda Execution
  • Communicate, coordinate and collaborate with industry stakeholders.

Qualification, Experience & Other Skills

1. Educational Qualification

2. Year of Experience

18-plus years of experience in the electronics/semiconductor industry. The candidate should have extensive experience in the ESDM industry, including Indian and multinational environments, and domestic and global industry connections to facilitate ecosystem growth

  • Strong understanding of Government Affairs
  • The candidate should have a strong understanding of the ESDM ecosystem, both local and global.
  • The candidate should demonstrate proficiency in managing multiple senior stakeholders and partners and have a proven record of overseeing various aspects of a technology organisation, including planning, execution, delivery, operations, finance, hiring, sales, and marketing.
  • A thorough understanding of India’s semiconductor and electronics product ecosystem is essential, encompassing both technical & business aspects.

KDEM Fellowship Programme

KDEM Fellowship provides young professionals an opportunity to be part of an exciting team which works on policy drafting, advocacy and implementation aimed at fostering innovation and Startups ecosystem in Karnataka. The position will also give you an excellent opportunity to be mentored by the whos’ who of the Tech industry and the industry organisations. The fellowship is an opportunity for young professionals to contribute towards creating social and economic impact at scale while building their own leadership skills and entrepreneurial abilities.
  • The fellowship is an on-ground, Full-time, paid commitment.
  • You cannot undertake any other part-time or full-time work or study during the tenure of the Fellowship.

Eligibility:
Undergraduate or post graduate degree in business administration economics, law, engineering, pure sciences, journalism, commerce, etc.
KDEM is looking for highly motivated candidates with passion to learn and grow. Listed below are the requirements for KDEM fellowship:
  • The applicants should be of Indian Nationality.
Note: The candidates should hold an Indian passport or should be eligible to hold one.
  • They should hold an undergraduate degree in any discipline.
Note: The candidates should hold an undergraduate degree before joining the KDEM fellowship. Those who are going to graduate shortly after the commencement of the fellowship cannot join the program.
  • The candidates should not be over 28 years of age.
  • Have at least 1 year of work experience/internship experience in innovation and Startups, investment promotion, strategy consulting, high growth start-up in the digital economy field or with think tanks.
  • Are a budding / aspiring entrepreneur with a vision to change the world.
  • Have previously managed projects end to end in a high rigour environment.
  • Recommendations from previous employers/institution head/director.
The KDEM fellowship offers an opportunity to be mentored by the Senior Leadership of KDEM and other industries associated with KDEM for eleven months. The benefits of the KDEM fellowship experience are as follows:
  • The fellows will learn about the policies and how these tools are leveraged for growing digital economy and start-ups.
  • Fellowship certificate from KDEM.
  • The fellows will get a chance to prepare thought papers/white papers, research reports/publications and draft press releases.
  • They will learn more about interacting with MNCs, large companies and their CXOs with an intent to attract more investments and expansions in Beyond Bengaluru regions.
  • The fellowship will enable the candidates to hone their analytical and leadership skills

Selection process

Each year, the KDEM Fellowship will accept a maximum of 8 Fellows into the program. The candidates will be selected after a rigorous process. The process will involve three stages as follows:-

1. Paper submission on specific subject

2. Case Study presentation

3. Interview by the Selection Board
