Tier 2 and 3 cities will be called ’emerging clusters’, says Karnataka Government – Times of India

A 25-crore seed fund has been launched for Mysuru and others will soon follow. Thirty per cent of the fund is contributed by the state government, 30% by financial institutions and the rest by local business leaders,” said BV Naidu, chairperson of Karnataka Digital Economy Mission. Naidu told TOI that a 300,000 sq ft ‘global tech centre’ is coming up in Mysuru to help the department invite companies to commence businesses at such locations. “We understood that calling smaller cities and towns of Karnataka Tier 2 or 3 was demeaning for the locals and the image of the place. Hence, we shifted to referring to them as emerging clusters and have started by giving them a ‘tech flavour’…,” he added.
