'Future of Work: Discovering the Secret Sauce'

Participated in the event 'Future of Work: Discovering the Secret Sauce' organized by AMCHAM India, where Dr. Ekroop Caur, IAS, Secretary to the Government, Department of Electronics, Information Technology, Biotechnology, and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka, delivered a special address. She highlighted the state's skilling initiatives designed to drive and support Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in Karnataka, emphasizing the importance of these efforts in fostering the future of work.
Stakeholder consultation for Karnataka GCC Policy with Dr. Ekroop Caur, IAS

Participated in a stakeholder consultation for the upcoming Karnataka GCC policy alongside Dr. Ekroop Caur, Secretary of Electronics, IT, Biotechnology, and Science & Technology for the Government of Karnataka. This session was organized in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM India). For ongoing updates and details on the GCC policy.
Nasscom GCC Conclave 2024
30th and 31st May 2024

Participated in the world's largest GCC Conclave in Bengaluru - Nasscom GCC Conclave 2024, where Darshan HV, IAS - MD of KITS, Department of ITBT, Government of Karnataka, delivered a compelling keynote at the nasscom GCC Summit. Key highlights included India's rise as the "Global GCC Capital," with over 1,580 GCCs and a projected 12%-14% CAGR till 2030. Karnataka leads with 44% of India's GCCs, a vibrant talent pool, robust R&D ecosystem, and dynamic startup culture. The state is also a top global city for AI innovation. The Karnataka government supports growth with strategic incentives, funding for startups, and Centres of Excellence. Future plans include a new GCC policy and the "Beyond Bengaluru" initiative to expand the digital economy to Tier II and III cities, ensuring Karnataka remains a top destination for GCCs and startups.
4th Edition of Global Capability Centers Summit 2024
21st June 2024

Participated in the Global Capability Centers Summit 2024, where Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, CEO of KDEM, delivered a keynote address on "Navigating GCC Policy Labyrinths: Riding the Regulatory Rollercoaster." He highlighted KDEM's role in promoting Karnataka's digital economy and its contribution to the prime minister’s vision of a US$1 trillion digital economy. Emphasizing the crucial role of GCC and IT/ITeS sectors, he noted Karnataka's recognition as the second largest hub of AI resources globally. Gupta made four key requests to the GCC leadership: develop a new definition for GCCs in India, elevate Indian leadership on global boards, engage with the startup ecosystem for mutual growth, and include emerging tech clusters like Mysuru, Mangaluru, and Hubballi-Dharwad-Belagavi in their expansion plans.
Indo-Spanish Economic Collaborations: Exploring Investment Opportunities in Karnataka & India
26th June 2024

Participated with our partner country Spain in the interactive session on "Spain/EU - India and Karnataka Economic Corridor" with the Indo-Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Bengaluru. Key stakeholders explored investment opportunities in Karnataka, emphasizing its $230 billion GSDP, leadership in exports and FDI, and strong innovation and technology sector. The state’s dynamic startup ecosystem, home to 400 Fortune 500 companies, was highlighted as a prime destination for Global Capability Centers (GCCs) and Spanish companies, fostering new partnerships and economic growth.
Karnataka Hosts Stakeholder Consultation for Groundbreaking GCC Policy Development
May 31st, 2024  
Participated in a stakeholder consultation for the upcoming Karnataka GCC policy, hosted by the Department of Electronics, IT, and BT in partnership with EY. Shri Darshan HV, IAS, Managing Director, KITS, GoK, chaired the roundtable, which included center heads of major GCCs in the state and EY India GCC leaders Arindam Sen, Vijay Shankar, and Sujit Cheruvatath. The session featured discussions on challenges faced by GCCs and their policy expectations. The government is committed to incorporating these insights and suggestions to frame this first-of-its-kind policy in the country.

SFAL Investor Day: Catalyzing Innovation and Investment

Participated in the SFAL Investor Day that brought together 6 investors who engaged in over 50 private meetings with dynamic startups. The event aimed at creating a platform for startups to thrive by offering unparalleled resources and support for innovation. This event was a tremendous success, furthering the mission of advancing India's ESDM sector through innovation and investment.
PCB Copper and Laminate Supply Chain Stratergy Meet at AT&T
1th June 2024

Organized the 'PCB Supply Chain' strategy meet, hosted by Santosh Gundapi at AT&S Nanjangud and chaired by Ms. Parnika Pavanram. The meeting brought together leaders from the electronics industry, including representatives from the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association, Electronic Industries Association of India-ELCINA, IT BT Department, Karnataka, and KDEM. The objective was to brainstorm on developing Mysuru into a full-fledged PCB ecosystem for the nation. This collaborative effort is expected to significantly boost the local electronics industry, positioning Mysuru as a key player in the national PCB supply chain.
GoK Delegation Engages with Applied Materials Inc. to Strengthen Semiconductor Manufacturing in Karnataka
June 7th, 2024

Lead a delegation from the Department of Electronics, IT, Bt and S&T, Government of Karnataka to Applied Materials Inc. in Silicon Valley, California on 5th June 2024. Led by Smt. Parnika Pavanram, General Manager – Electronics and Biotech, the team, including Mr. Sujay Shetty, Executive Director, PwC India, engaged in productive discussions with senior executives from Applied Materials, a global leader in semiconductor equipment manufacturing. The delegation learned about the company's advanced global operations and future business plans in Karnataka. They also presented Karnataka’s readiness to support the development of a robust ecosystem for the semiconductor equipment manufacturing value chain. The visit concluded with a detailed fab walk-through of Applied Materials' advanced R&D labs, providing valuable insights into their cutting-edge activities.

India Skills Competition 2024

21st May 2024
Participated as part of the delegation representing Karnataka at the India Skills Competition 2024, where Karnataka proudly secured the 2nd rank, demonstrating exceptional talent and commitment. The state achieved an impressive tally of medals: 13 Gold, 12 Silver, 3 Bronze, and 19 Medals of Excellence, totaling 47 medals. This success highlights the hard work and dedication of all participants and the significant role played by the Karnataka Skill Development Corporation (KSDC)
Industry Consultation Meeting Chaired by Smt. Uma Mahadevan-Dasgupta, IAS

Partnered with AMCHAM India to host an industry consultation meeting chaired by Smt. Uma Mahadevan-Dasgupta, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (Panchayat Raj) of the Department of Rural Development & Panchayat Raj, Govt of Karnataka. The meeting focused on various key areas, including educational initiatives from K12 to higher education, training programs, job creation efforts, support for Self-help Groups, rural development projects, promoting Karnataka talent globally, and development across unskilled, semi-skilled, and skilled categories.

Karnataka R&D Conclave: Paving the Way for Technological Collaboration and Innovation

19th June 2024
KDEM was a part of the First Edition of the CII Karnataka R&D Conclave at Shangri-La, Bengaluru. The delegation from the Department of ITBT met with industry leaders to discuss strengthening R&D collaborations. Hon’ble Minister for ITBT, Shri Priyank M Kharge, highlighted Karnataka's skilled professionals across 401 R&D centers and the importance of upskilling and reskilling to build a talent pool and generate employment. He also emphasized the need for regular interaction between industry, academia, and R&D institutes to foster technological collaboration. As a global hub for R&D in the software industry, we are focusing on establishing an institutional framework to facilitate innovation in the market and positioning Karnataka competitively on the global stage.

TiE Global Summit 2024 Curtain Raiser - Mysuru Chapter 20th April 2024

Participated as a Strategic Partner at the TGS 2024 Curtain Raiser Event organized by TiE Mysuru, where Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, CEO of KDEM, and Mr. Madan Padaki, President of TiE Bangalore, shared their ambitious visions for the future of entrepreneurship. Participated in a fantastic panel discussion with WeWork Labs, featuring insightful perspectives from industry leaders! Thanks to WeWork, co-panel leaders, startup leaders, and partners! We delved into crucial gaps in the startup ecosystem that the government could address, exploring avenues where state-led initiatives can make a difference, from the scarcity of quality talent to fostering local integration. We highlighted the importance of bridging the gap between startups and educational institutions, discussing strategies for seamless integration of the startup ecosystem into college hiring processes. Additionally, we explored the potential of creating platforms to bring together founders from diverse geographical backgrounds. Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM)'s impactful role in nurturing thriving startup ecosystems in emerging cities like Mysuru, Mangaluru, Hubballi, Dharwad, and Belagavi was also discussed.
Delegate Visit From Government of Rajasthan at the KDEM Office

Hosted Mr. Inderjeet Singh, Commissioner for the Housing Board Department and Special Secretary of the IT & Communication Department, Government of Rajasthan, at the KDEM office. Siddhartha Anand, VP of KDEM, provided an overview of Karnataka's thriving startup ecosystem and KDEM's innovative initiatives. Mr. Singh expressed deep interest in KDEM's programs and operations, leading to fruitful discussions about ongoing projects in both Karnataka and Rajasthan and exploring potential areas for collaboration. The visit also included a tour of the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH), highlighting our commitment to fostering technological and entrepreneurial growth. This interaction underscored the potential for significant collaboration between the two states.
Tech4Good: Platforms, AI and Impact

We hosted the ‘Tech4Good: Platforms, AI, and Impact’ community meetup (hybrid mode) at our office. The event focused on how entrepreneurs leverage technology for broader social impact, celebrating the spirit of World Telecommunication & Information Society Day. Bringing together founders, investors, and enablers, this was the 7th event in our Tech4Good series, produced and anchored by MXR.world (‘mixers across the world’). Participants explored 130+ pitch decks from our 35 events last year, engaged in roundtable discussions with experts, investors, bankers, mentors, government agencies, and ecosystem enablers, and debated how to scale social innovations. The event provided an invaluable opportunity for connection, learning, and collaboration.

Karnataka Acceleration Network: Call for Application
17th June 2024

Launched a call for applications for the Karnataka Acceleration Network, a unique accelerator program aimed at elevating innovative startups in Karnataka. The program, in collaboration with the Dept of Electronics, IT BT Department, Karnataka and Science & Technology, aimed to enhance the acceleration ecosystem across the state. Bengaluru-based accelerators were set to collaborate with incubators and accelerators in Mysuru, Mangaluru, and Hubballi-Dharwad-Belagavi through joint cohorts, sharing best practices and propelling startups to the next level. This initiative sought to drive growth and innovation within the state's startup community.
Headstart Startup Mixer - Where Innovation Meets Opportunity

Participated in the Startup Mixer organized by Headstart Karnataka, which brought together VCs, founders, and industry leaders to network, share insights, and foster collaboration. Key highlights included networking opportunities with top venture capitalists and industry players, a fireside chat featuring founders who shared their journeys and advice, and a collaborative environment for pitching startups, finding co-founders, and gaining valuable knowledge. Participated in the India Global Innovation Connect 2024 as the strategic partner, co-organized by the Government of Karnataka, Startup Karnataka, and K-tech. This prestigious event brought together industry leaders, innovators, and policymakers to discuss the future of innovation and entrepreneurship. Mr. BV Naidu, Chairman of KDEM, and Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, CEO of KDEM, participated in key panel discussions, highlighting India's startup ecosystem, exponential growth, and government initiatives. Mr. BV Naidu also engaged with Mr. Amitabh Kant, G20 Sherpa of India, on shaping India's technological landscape. Additionally, Sri. Darshan H V, IAS, participated in a panel on "Biotech and Genomics," exploring opportunities in the field. Startup Delegation Visit to KDEM
28th June 2024

Hosted the Startup Delegation organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry Karnataka Industry - Startup Taskforce, providing CII Startup members with an in-depth understanding of the state’s startup policies, grants, and ecosystem. Mr. Sunil G Acharya, Senior Advisor at KDEM, highlighted Karnataka’s thriving startup ecosystem, state policies, incentives, and government initiatives supporting startups. The discussion with CII representatives and the startup delegation was engaging and insightful, culminating in a dynamic Q&A session. Various areas of collaboration between KDEM and the CII Startup Taskforce were explored, and participants engaged with key stakeholders, visited the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub, and networked with innovative startups from NASSCOM CoE, IoT.
Startup Trail by Gully Tours: Founders and Corporate Leaders Explore Karnataka's Startup Ecosystem
29th June 2024

Welcomed a group of 15 dynamic founders and corporate leaders as part of the Startup Trail by Gully Tours. Tarun Raj and Niveditha SP briefed the delegation on Karnataka’s startup narrative, state-funded incubators, Centers of Excellence, the VC funding landscape, Bengaluru’s rise as the GCC capital, and state-supported funding initiatives. The group then visited NASSCOM CoE-IoT, engaging with its representatives and startups. With over 45 Unicorns and 50 more in the pipeline, Karnataka is set to become a leading startup destination globally, supported by 4,000+ active angels, VCs, and Family Offices. The State Government offers benefits like marketing cost reimbursement, patent filing cost reimbursement, 100% reimbursement of State GST, and quality certification reimbursement.
Forging Global Tech Alliances: Key Highlights from Karnataka's Roundtable at London Tech Week
26th June 2024


The Department of ITBT organized a roundtable at London Tech Week with tech leaders, senior government representatives, and leading startups to explore collaboration opportunities between Karnataka and various countries. Key points included promoting Karnataka as a global investment hub, showing strong interest in AI and Quantum Tech collaborations, and discussing the facilitation of international startup soft-landing, both into and out of Karnataka. Karnataka looks forward to forming productive partnerships to enhance its tech and innovation ecosystem.

Ahana IT Services, with over 14 years of expertise, is leveraging this strategic move to tap into local talent in Hubli, aiming to grow its workforce significantly over the next 3-5 years. This expansion highlights the potential of the HDB cluster to become a hub for technological advancement, with KDEM playing a crucial role in fostering this development.
Insightful Interaction with Abhijit Shanbhag on Strengthening Karnataka's Tech Ecosystem

Hosted Abhijit Shanbhag, President & CEO at Graymatics, Inc., in Bangalore, where KDEM's team, including CEO Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, Suvin Narayan, Siddhartha Anand, Bharath Chandra BK, and Dr. E V Ramana Reddy, IAS (Retd), Chairman of the Karnataka Skill Development Authority (KSDA), discussed KDEM's impactful initiatives. Throught this initiative we aimed to assist and support individuals looking to return and thrive in Karnataka, the land of opportunities. This initiative encouraged expatriates to reconnect with their roots and make a meaningful impact in their native clusters as well as the state as a whole.

IESA Spacetronics and Deftronics

KDEM’s co-hosted event with IESA showcased Karnataka as a global hub for Spacetronics, Deftronics, and Aerospace. It facilitated startup showcases, industry collaborations, and emphasized the state’s talent, ecosystem, policies, and market opportunities. The event also highlighted Belagavi’s potential as a drone cluster for industrial expansion.
