Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the launch of India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 2.0 in the Union Budget 2026-27, marking a strategic push to elevate the country’s capabilities in semiconductor production.The initiative builds directly on ISM 1.0, shifting focus toward high-value segments including the manufacturing of semiconductor equipment and materials. It also prioritizes the development of full-stack Indian intellectual property and the fortification of domestic supply chains.
