IESA Vision Summit 2024

The Vision Summit 2024, organized by IESA in Bengaluru, highlighted the prowess of the Indian embedded electronic industry, attracting key global semiconductor and ESDM stakeholders. The event, themed ‘Design-Led Manufacturing – Leveraging the Semiconductor Ecosystem,’ featured insights from government officials and industry leaders, showcasing India’s ESDM growth and government backing. Contributions from international companies such as Arm and Lam Research underlined the summit’s significance in promoting innovation and collaboration.

KDEM-SIA Conference: Fostering Growth in Karnataka's ESDM Sector

During the IESA Vision Summit 2024, KDEM interacted with SIA representatives with the objective of shaping the future of the Karnataka ESDM sector. This interaction sparked focused discussions on potential global collaborations, investment avenues, and the development of local talent. Job Fair in Partnership With KSDC in Kalburgi

Karnataka Skill Development Corporation supported by KDEM, organized a transformative job drive in Sedam, Kalaburagi district, Karnataka, significantly impacting the local workforce. This initiative highlighted the region’s untapped potential and underscored the value of skill development programs in enhancing employment opportunities. The event resulted in 857 job offers and 1393 candidates shortlisted for further interviews, marking a significant stride in Sedam’s talent utilization and employment landscape.

W@W Conclave 2023 - Mysuru

KDEM, together with Karnataka Skill Development Corporation (KSDC), hosted the Women@Work (W@W) conclave, focusing on enhancing gender diversity, empowering women, and boosting their workforce participation. The event was dedicated to reinforcing corporate initiatives aimed at enriching the female workforce, offering a valuable forum for potential job seekers to explore employment avenues and identify skill development needs.

Round Table on GIG Economy

During the Bengaluru Tech Summit, the KDEM conducted a Gig Economy Roundtable led by CEO Mr. Sanjeev Gupta to delve into the needs of gig workers. The session, focused on defining gigs as short-term, skill-specific tasks, successfully identified key gig worker categories, including women re-entering the workforce, those starting their careers at various stages, unemployed graduates, individuals without higher education, and students from tier 2 and tier 3 cities, aiming to understand and address their unique needs within the gig economy.

Launch of K-VLSI Design Skill Program

At the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2023, KDEM, in partnership with the IIIT-B, SFAL, IESA, the Government of Karnataka, and KSDC, hosted a press conference to launch the inaugural cohort of the K-VLSI program. This event, attended by Shri Priyank M Kharge, Hon’ble Minister for IT, Bt and Rural Development & Panchayat Raj, Govt. of Karnataka, marked the start of this significant program aimed at enhancing VLSI design skills

Webinar for NAIN Students on Entrepreneurship and pitch deck template for W@W Empower session - Mangaluru

On January 25, 2024, as part of the W@W Initiative, KDEM conducted a webinar titled “Mastering the Art of Startup Pitching,” attracting nearly 400 students from 8 prestigious NAIN Colleges in Mangalore. The session, featuring Dr. Madanmohan Rao, Research Director at YourStory Media, provided participants with essential insights into creating an effective pitch deck and strategies to engage and persuade potential investors.

WoW Empower Session - Mangaluru

KDEM’s W@W Empower event in Mangaluru focused on enhancing career and entrepreneurial opportunities for women in technology. The program included discussions on career development, government support for female entrepreneurs, a success story from a local entrepreneur, insights from industry experts, and a student pitching session. Attracting over 200 participants, including students, startup founders, and industry leaders, the event successfully promoted women’s engagement in emerging technologies and entrepreneurship.

TPO Conclave

KDEM held a Training & Placement Officers (TPO) conclave aimed at strengthening the link between academia and industry to facilitate smoother transitions from education to employment. The event featured discussions on best practices, innovative strategies for campus placements, and career guidance, with speakers covering topics such as the changing job market, fostering an entrepreneurial mindset, enhancing placement drives, and aligning with industry job demands.

Job Fair in Partnership with Talent Surabhi

The “Life Sciences & Healthcare Job Fair”, Edition 1, 2024, jointly organized by TalentSurabhi, the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM), and Kristu Jayanti College Autonomous, was a significant event for students and professionals from life sciences, dental, paramedical, and pharmacy backgrounds. It offered diverse job opportunities in the life sciences, healthcare, and biotechnology sectors, along with valuable insights from industry experts and thought leaders.

DRIM workshop on influencer marketing

KDEM and DRIM hosted an event titled ‘Exploring Influencer Marketing: Trends, Careers, and Certification Insights,’ focusing on how women can capitalize on influencer marketing in the digital age. Yulia Aslamova, Head of Asia at DRIM, shared a global outlook on the growing influencer marketing sector, emphasizing its potential and opportunities. The workshop also offered curated self-development resources to help participants improve their skills and capabilities in this field.

Bruhat Udyoga Mela-Yuva Samriddhi Sammelana 2024

At the Bruhat Udyoga Mela-Yuva Samriddhi Sammelana 2024 held in Bengaluru, over 600 companies participated, attracting 86,451 registrants with a significant representation across sectors like aerospace, IT-ITES, banking, manufacturing, and automotive. Out of these registrants, 16,865 were shortlisted for further interviews, while more than 15,000 await job confirmations, highlighting the fair’s wide-reaching impact on job opportunities in diverse industries.

Edventures

As a lead-up to the TiE Global Summit 2024, TiE Bangalore and KDEM unveiled the EdVentures initiative at Hotel Grand Magrath, establishing a unique community of educational institutions focused on fostering student entrepreneurship. EdVentures is designed to nurture entrepreneurial mindsets among students, offering them the necessary resources and opportunities to develop their ideas into thriving businesses.

EU India Innocentre Delegation Visit

Participants from EU Innovation Hubs, Tech Parks, and other entities engaged with the Indian market to explore tech collaboration and expansion opportunities for their startups. The event facilitated impactful exchanges, with startups from both the EU and India pitching to venture capitalists and investors, highlighting the event’s role in fostering bilateral innovation and business growth.

Mr. Ajaneesh Kumar, IFS, Ambassador of India to Estonia visit to KDEM

On December 8th, as part of the Bharat Darshan Tour Program, KDEM hosted H.E. Mr. Ajaneesh Kumar, Ambassador of India to Estonia. His visit to Bengaluru included an introduction to Karnataka’s dynamic startup ecosystem by KDEM CEO Mr Sanjeev Gupta, highlighting the state’s potential. At the KEONICS office, the Ambassador praised the innovative efforts by the Government of Karnataka and was optimistic about future collaborations.

Mr. Rudra Gaurav Shresth, Ambassador of India to Tehran Visit to KDEM

During his visit to Karnataka, Indian Ambassador to Iran, Sri Rudra Gaurav Shresth, met with the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) to discuss the enhancement of the state’s startup and IT sectors, and initiatives like ‘Beyond Bengaluru’. The discussions also covered how embassies could aid in ecosystem growth and potential international collaborations with Iran, with specific attention to engagements with SFAL and NASSCOM for their roles in tech development.

Startup Runway Delegation

KDEM welcomed delegates from Startup Runway and the economic development corporations of McKinney and Frisco, exploring potential collaborations. The event showcased Karnataka’s startup ecosystem and facilitated interactions with SFAL, NASSCOM 10K Startups, and NASSCOM CoE – IoT, culminating in a Startup Roundtable and networking session. The focus was on fostering future partnerships and innovation within the region.

Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce Visit

As part of its India Mission, the ICCC delegation visited the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission and met with CEO Mr. Sanjeev Gupta and Vice President of Startup and Innovation Siddhartha Anand. Mr. Gupta presented the achievements of Karnataka’s startup ecosystem, highlighting Bengaluru’s role as a home to 200K startups with $64 billion in venture capital raised, showcasing the significant impact and growth of the sector.

Australian Delegation T-Hub

In a collaborative effort, T-Hub, AusIndustry, and La Trobe University initiated the Big Leap programme, designed to facilitate Indian market access for selected Australian startups. During their India visit, three startups sought to understand the Indian market and establish business connections, aiming to immerse themselves in the Indian startup ecosystem and broaden their networks. Siddharth Anand from KDEM provided insights into Karnataka’s startup landscape and emerging sectors, enriching the visiting startups’ experience.

SGInnovate Delegation

KDEM welcomed a delegation from SGInnovate, Singapore, with Siddhartha Anand, VP of Startups and Innovation, providing an in-depth presentation on Bengaluru’s evolution into a vibrant startup ecosystem. The visit facilitated meaningful exchanges with key entities like the Semiconductor Fabless Accelerator Lab (SFAL), MeitY-NASSCOM Center of Excellence, and NASSCOM 10k Startups, focusing on exploring collaboration opportunities and finding common ground for future partnerships with these organizations.

TiE Matrix Global Summit 2023
7th - 8th June 2023
BV Naidu highlighted Karnataka's IT growth and mitigating startup failures. KDEM's initiatives fostered innovation and cross-border collaborations. Sanjeev Gupta emphasized democratizing entrepreneurship, boosting GDP growth in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. His 10 approaches focused on student entrepreneurship, industry ecosystems, inclusiveness, and enabler support, driving impactful outcomes.
Tech4Good Mixer II

The second Tech4Good Mixer, hosted by KDEM in association with MXR.World, had a notable impact. The event showcased 4 startups' pitches and featured a panel discussion. It fostered valuable networking opportunities, knowledge exchange, and potential collaborations among participants, driving positive impact in the technology and social entrepreneurship sectors.
Exploring Growth Opportunities for Karnataka startups in Singapore
22nd June 2023
KDEM in association with TiE Bangalore hosted industry experts & partners - TMG. (Taxmantra Global) from Singapore Impact - One-on-One sessions for 4 startups. This session helped startups who attended with better understanding to expand into Singapore markets and ecosystem (taxation, regulations, workforce, processes, etc).
TiE Angels Karnataka Mixer

The TiE Angels Karnataka Mixer, with KDEM's nomination of 12 startups, resulted in 10 shortlisted startups pitching to the Jury. The event created valuable opportunities for the shortlisted startups to present their ideas and seek potential investments from the TiE Angels Karnataka members. This screening round demonstrated the event's positive impact in fostering connections and opportunities for startup growth and funding.

Stanford University Delegation  
28th June 2023  
The briefing of Stanford University's 20 Knight-Hennessy Scholars had a significant impact. The event showcased the Government of Karnataka's initiatives to drive the state's economy and the measures to enhance ease of doing business. The event fostered knowledge exchange and potential collaborations & highlighted KDEM's contributions to Karnataka's economic development and its role in creating a vibrant business ecosystem.
Daimler Truck Delegation  
28th June 2023  
The hosting of a global leaders' delegation from Daimler Truck on June 28th had a significant impact. The delegation was informed about Bengaluru's vibrant startup ecosystem, showcasing unicorns, soonicorns, key sectors, and government support. The event provided 5 startups with the opportunity to pitch their ideas and projects, fostering potential collaborations and investment opportunities between Daimler Truck and innovative startups in the DeepTech and automotive sectors.
Festival of Fintech  
30th June 2023  
3rd Edition of BW Festival of Fintech – Conclave and Awards The third edition of the BW Festival of Fintech 2023 had the presence of visionary leaders, professionals, and policymakers. The event had keynote speeches, panel discussions interactive sessions and an award ceremony. Sanjeev Gupta, CEO, KDEM gave a keynote speech at the event.
