After reports of Apple s (not cancelled) own 5G modem project, company s 6G modem plans intensify – India Today

Sometime in 2019, Apple was first rumoured to be working on its own 5G modem. The project was internally called Sinope. That year was also the time Intel announced its surprise exit from the 5G smartphone modem business. But Intel s departure had a silver lining: Apple acquired the chipmaker s modem business for a billion dollars and over 17,000 of its patents.
