A recent reply in Parliament shows that the Centre has been recognising startups in 57 sectors under the Startup India initiative launched in 2016. The Government said that the number of recognised startups in India has increased from 428 in 2016 to 98,119 as of April 30, 2023.
In a significant development, MetaShot, a Bangalore-based gaming startup, has secured Rs400,000 in a pre-seed funding round. The participation for this round included Inflection Point Ventures, an early-stage gaming-focused fund, and prominent angel investors, such as the founders of Dineout: Ankit Mehrotra, Sahil Jain, and Khalid Qazi, among others.
The Agri Innovation Centre of University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru (UASB), held Agri Innovation Impulse 2023, an exhibition for agricultural startups to showcase their latest developments in agricultural research and technology, on August 9 at the university campus.
