Karnataka poised to lead India’s space tech growth

Karnataka is well positioned to drive India’s next phase of growth in the global space economy, State IT Minister Priyank Kharge said. He noted that the Space Tech Policy 2025–2030 marks a significant step towards establishing Karnataka as India’s leading space technology hub.

The policy aims to enable the state to capture 50 per cent of India’s space technology market and 5 per cent of the global space economy by 2034. Outlining the vision behind the policy, which was announced last month at the Bengaluru Tech Summit, Priyank Kharge said the state has defined clear and measurable goals to accelerate growth in the space sector.

“Through this policy, Karnataka seeks to mobilise investments worth USD 5 billion, support more than 500 space start-ups and MSMEs, generate over 50,000 high-skill jobs, and enable companies in the state to design and launch more than 50 satellites in the coming years,” he said in a statement.

AI guards never sleep: The future of Indian prison management

Alok Kumar, the newly appointed Director General of Prisons for Karnataka, recently made an announcement that sounds straight out of a science fiction movie. The prison department is contemplating an Al-based intrusion detection system, with trials already underway. For those wondering what this means in simple terms, imagine intelligent cameras that do not just record but actually think, analyse, and alert authorities the moment something suspicious happens inside prison premises. The question we must ask ourselves is whether this technological leap will truly bring control to prison management or create new complications we have not yet considered.
