Data provided by the minister showed a rising trend in the number of data breach incidents reported and tracked by Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERTIn), the government designated national agency for responding to cybersecurity threats The number has gone up between 2015 and 2023, with zero incidents reported in 2015 and 2016, 2 in 2017, 5 in 2018, 11 in 2019, 36 in 202, 39 in 2021, 51 in 2022, and 49 in 2023 (till June).
