Inaugurating the new R&D centre, Telangana IT & industries minister KT Rama Rao said Hyderabad has seen explosive growth and has already emerged as a hub for semiconductor design with companies such as Micron, Intel, Qualcomm, AMD, among others, putting up a significant presence here.

Rapidus, a venture backed by some of Japan s biggest electronics firms, is turning IBM s 2nanometer chip design into productionready silicon and aims to fabricate such chips at scale in the latter half of this decade. The most advanced semiconductors today are built at the larger 3nm node.

Highlighting the state government s commitment to providing trained personnel, offering to train 1000 individuals at the government s expense, with selection based on the company s preference, KTR noted Telangana s leadership in Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) skilling.
