Global Government CIOs Prioritise AI, Cybersecurity In 2026 Budgets

Research and advisory firm Gartner has revealed that 52 per cent of government chief information officers (CIOs) outside the United States anticipate increased information technology (IT) budgets for 2026, with investments targeting artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity to modernise services. The findings, announced in Sydney on 1 December 2025, come from the annual Gartner CIO and Technology Executive Survey, which gathered data from 284 non-US government CIO respondents between May and June 2025.
