Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday inaugurated Zetwerk Electronics’ new ₹100-crore manufacturing facility in Bengaluru. The new plant will help strengthen India’s electronics manufacturing for defence, aerospace and automotive sectors. At full capacity, it is expected to create more than 1,200 jobs.

The Technology Advisory Group (TAG) of the Empowered Technology Group (ETG) met in February 2026 under the chairmanship of Professor Ajay Kumar Sood, the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to the Government of India. The Office of the PSA hosted the third TAG meeting to assess domestic robotics .

The Union Budget 2026-27 has given a major fillip to India’s fast-growing electronics manufacturing sector by raising the outlay of the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) to ₹40,000 crore. The enhanced allocation underscores the government’s commitment to deepening domestic manufacturing capabilities, strengthening the component ecosystem, and positioning India as a global hub for advanced electronics.
