In a major leap towards emerging as the semiconductor capital of India, Bengaluru on February 7 saw as many as four bodies, including noted manufacturers and government research organisations in the field, making announcements to set up or expand existing facilities in the city and its outskirts.

Addressing industry leaders at Source India 2026, Manjula, Secretary to the Government, Department of Electronics, IT, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka, said the state is focusing on scaling manufacturing alongside its strong R&D base to capture a larger share of India’s rapidly growing electronics and semiconductor market.

Karnataka is sharpening its manufacturing ambitions as India’s electronics production is projected to reach $300 billion by 2026 and the domestic semiconductor market is expected to touch $64 billion.Speaking at Source India 2026 in Bengaluru, Dr Manjula, Secretary to the Government, Department of Electronics, IT, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka, outlined the State’s push to deepen its role across the electronics and semiconductor value chain.

The state is stepping up efforts to attract investments across the electronics and semiconductor value chain to capture a larger share of India’s rapidly growing electronics and semiconductor market, said IT/BT department secretary Dr N Manjula on Wednesday.The secretary was speaking at the two-day business-to-business event organised by Electronic Industries Association of India (ELCINA) Source India 2026 in Chennai. She said the state is focusing on scaling manufacturing alongside its strong research and development (R&D) base.
