Karnataka will be spending ₹967 crore towards varied incentives under the Karnataka Information Technology Policy 2025-2030 that seeks to bring significant investments with special focus on AI and other emerging technologies in cities beyond Bengaluru, and elevate Karnataka’s brand globally as ‘AI-native destination.
The Cabinet on Thursday approved two Centres of Excellence (CoE) in Quantum Artificial Intelligence and Computing and Defence Technology and Industry 5.0 to be built over five years at a cost of Rs 36 crore (Rs 18 crore each).

The Siddaramaiah-led Cabinet Thursday cleared the Karnataka Information Technology Policy 2025-2030, which aims at almost tripling the software exports of the state in the next five years. The financial outlay to implement fiscal incentives, concessions for IT companies, and other initiatives under the Policy is Rs 967.12 crore.

Karnataka, which has always been at the forefront of innovation, is now entering the Deep Tech Decade. To enable this transformation, the state is investing in nurturing startups and helping them evolve into unicorns, with the goal of transforming deep tech capabilities into global leadership, said Minister for Information Technology and Biotechnology, Priyank Kharge.
The Bengaluru Skill Summit 2025, held from 4-6 November 2025, concluded on a high note with more than 6500+ combined footfalls and three days of dynamic discussions, global participation, and forward-looking interventions. The buildathon is a pre-summit event affiliated with India-AI Impact Summit 2026 to be held in February, a flagship global gathering hosted by IndiaAI Mission. About 100 finalists have advanced to the pre-summit event.
Innovation-first approach can lead to responsible use
India’s “Governance Guidelines for Artificial Intelligence” (AI), released recently by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, marks an important milestone in how the country envisions AI governance. In the absence of a dedicated AI law, these guidelines represent a pragmatic step towards anticipatory governance, one that seeks to manage risks without sti-fling innovation. Rather than replicate Western models of precautionary regu-lation, India is crafting a homegrown framework that aligns trust, innovation, and inclusion as mutually reinforcing principles. At the heart of this new archi-tecture are the seven guiding sutras, or principles – trust, people-first design, innovation over restraint, fairness and equity, accountability, understandable by design, and safety, resilience and sustainability.
